Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)
This program strives to serve and connect individuals, churches, and non-profits who are committed to addressing the need for affordable housing. Having been certified as a CHDO by representatives of the City of Winchester, the five counties of the Northern Shenandoah Valley (NSV), and the NSV Regional Commission, this status opens doors for financial support through HUD and Virginia Housing for housing and community development projects. Rob Seidel, Faithworks’ Director of Real Estate Development, provides technical real estate development assistance and works to access these and other resources for major CHDO projects in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

Emergency Financial Assistance
Faithworks offers Emergency Financial Assistance for rent/mortgage payments, utilities, car repairs, and other emergency expenses for individuals and families experiencing an unexpected financial shortfall. Payments are made directly to the vendor, landlord/mortgage company, or service provider. No financial assistance is given to an applicant.
Faithworks' Emergency Financial Assistance Program is funded by the United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley, the Knights of Columbus Utility Fund, the First Baptist Church's Fellowship Fund, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative, and Navigate Housing Partners.

Accessibility and Modification Grant Program
Faithworks is proud to be an Agent for the Virginia Housing Accessibility Grants Program. Accessibility grants can provide funding of up to $8,000 for modifications to the residences of low-income homeowners and renters with disabilities, as well as Veterans with a service-related disability. These funds are intended for modifications that directly affect the occupant’s functional use of the home. Applicants can access one of three grants; Owner Occupied Modification, Rental Unit Accessibility Modification, or Granting Freedom; depending on their situation. Service areas include Winchester City, Frederick County, Clarke County, Warren County, Page County, Shenandoah County, and Fauquier County.
