Central Union Mission
Faithworks conducted a neighborhood assessment, community outreach and a site analysis for Central Union Mission's homeless shelter located in Northwest Washington, DC.
District of Columbia Housing Authority
Faithworks introduction to the Hopkins Apartments and Potomac Gardens community started in July 2008 when, as part of the Capitol Hill Group Ministry Housing Advocacy Committee, Faithworks was asked to help coordinate the planning and building of a playground behind Hopkins at 1000 12th Street SE, 1121 K Street SE and 1131 K Street SE. Faithworks' collaborators for the project included the Hopkins Resident Council, Capitol Hill Community Foundation, Capitol Hill Group Ministry, Care Company, Christ Our Shepherd Church, Church of the Resurrection, DC Department of Recreation, DC Housing Authority, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, Frager's Hardware, Grace DC, Hopkins Boys and Girls Club, South Washington/West of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative, and Urban Bridge Builders.
Delinquency prevention and intervention program
After the successful playground project, Faithworks collaborated with resident leaders, the Hopkins and Potomac Gardens Resident Councils, the District of Columbia Housing Authority, Get It Right Construction, the Hopkins Boys and Girls Club, Little Lights Urban Ministries, One Economy, Peaceoholics, Sasha Bruce Youthwork, and Total Family Care Coalition on a 12-month youth delinquency prevention and intervention program. The program targeted youth and young adults involved in crews and experiencing violence and was able to engage them in activities such as construction training, technology, recycling, and recreation. Faithworks and its partners provided intervention services, life skills training and coordinated community improvement projects such as the rehabilitation of two apartments into a recording studio and nonprofit program space.
Clean Green Team
In cooperation with Little Lights Urban Ministries and D & A Dunlevy Landscapers, Faithworks supplied business advice, project management, and administrative support to several public housing residents in creating a landscaping program and start-up business.
The Festival Center
The Festival Center is a 19,600 square foot multi-purpose site in the heart of Adams Morgan in Northwest Washington, DC. Faithworks provided business planning guidance and leasing consultation to The Festival Center as it interacted with tenants from multiple ministries.
Gretna Village
Located in Gretna, Virginia, Faithworks was the nonprofit General Partner for this 47-unit apartment community with SunTrust Bank. Completed in 2006, this project used low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC's) to ensure that the apartments remain affordable for a period of 20 years. Since project completion, Faithworks has provided asset management and community management planning and oversight.
The Salvation Army
Faithworks assisted The Salvation Army in creating a unique Corps Center and multi-ministry site in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast Washington, DC, known as Solomon G. Brown Corps Community Center. From initial community outreach, to business planning, program and project design, ministry partner selection, construction, leasing and preparation for operation - Faithworks worked closely with Army officers, staff, advisory board and many members of the community to develop this extraordinary facility.
Potter House
Financial support for The Potter's House was provided through charitable donations from churches, Bible study groups, individuals, and Faithworks' general operating account to serve to bless many homeless women with children over a 7 year period, including three individual families during the COVID years. For seven years, this ministry was supported faithfully by several churches and a women's Bible study group that donated thousands of dollars for the ministry. A key motivation for much of that support was awareness of the need to minister to victims of domestic violence.
Crystal Chase
Located in Strasburg, Virginia, Faithworks was the nonprofit General Partner for this 32-unit apartment community with SunTrust Bank. The Gatepost
The Gatepost assists at-risk youth ages 14 - 21 in developing life and job skills through classroom training and hands-on experience. Faithworks helped The Gatepost renovate the kitchen in its building on Good Hope Road in Southeast DC into a fully functioning commercial kitchen where culinary arts classes are held.
My Sister’s Keeper for All
Faithworks served as the administrator for My Sister’s Keeper’s (MSK) program that focused on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients at Hopkins and Potomac Gardens. Faithworks assisted MSK in developing an integrated approach to encourage participants to become self-sufficient.
