Faithworks announces that Family Promise Winchester Area is joining the Pathways Program to strengthen housing support for local families.

Beginning November 1, 2026, Family Promise Winchester Area will become part of Faithworks’ Pathways Program, bringing together the experience, relationships and resources of both organizations to strengthen housing support for families in Winchester, Virginia.

The collaboration will create a more coordinated network of emergency assistance, housing support, resource navigation and case management for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Since its launch in 2023, Family Promise Winchester Area has helped families with children navigate housing crises, overcome barriers to stability and work toward more secure futures. Donors, volunteers, local churches and community partners have made that work possible.

That commitment to local families will continue through Faithworks.

A Thoughtful Transition for Family Promise Winchester Area

In August 2026, the Family Promise Winchester Area Board of Directors announced a leadership transition following the resignation of its executive director. As the Board worked to maintain services, it also evaluated how to sustain and strengthen the organization’s mission.

Through conversations with Faithworks, the Board identified an opportunity to build on the foundation Family Promise had established while connecting its programs, staff experience and community relationships with a broader network of services.

Joining Faithworks’ Pathways Program will provide a more sustainable organizational structure and expand the capacity to coordinate housing assistance for local families.

Family Promise Winchester Area will conclude its independent operations at the end of 2026. Its commitment to families experiencing housing instability will continue through the Pathways Program.

The Family Promise team will also join Faithworks, helping preserve the experience and trusted relationships that have been central to serving families in the Winchester area.

Expanded Housing Support Through the Pathways Program

Faithworks and Family Promise are bringing their work together to create a more accessible and coordinated source of support for families facing eviction, homelessness, utility shutoffs and other urgent needs.

The collaboration will strengthen Faithworks’ existing emergency assistance, resource navigation and case management services. Family Promise services continuing through Pathways will include:

  • Shelter diversion

  • Case management

  • Budget counseling

  • Housing stability support

  • Connections to community resources

“Simply put, we believe we can do more together,” said Sandi Webster, Director of Operations at Faithworks. “By combining our experience and resources, we can better connect families with the support they need, address immediate housing challenges, and help parents build a more stable future for their children.”

Faithworks intends to preserve the personal, relationship-centered approach that has defined Family Promise while expanding its capacity to respond to changing community needs.

Building a Stronger Future for Local Families

This collaboration builds on the foundation established by Family Promise Winchester Area and the people who have supported its work.

Leadership from both organizations continues to work through the operational and governance details needed for a responsible transition. The transition is supported in part by ongoing capacity-building initiatives funded through Virginia Housing.

“Our mission at Faithworks has always focused on meeting urgent needs while building lasting solutions,” said Rob Seidel, President of Faithworks, Inc. “As our community faces severe housing pressures, bringing Family Promise into Pathways allows us to wrap our arms more fully around vulnerable families. This collaboration ensures that the heart, volunteer spirit, and personalized care Family Promise is known for will not only continue, but also thrive with expanded capacity.”

Faithworks and Family Promise share the same goal: helping families find stability and ensuring that parents and children do not have to navigate a housing crisis alone.
