Community Development · 25 YEARS
We come alongside your vision for affordable housing.
For 25 years, Faithworks has served and connected individuals, churches, and nonprofits committed to addressing the need for affordable housing. We don’t compete with you or build for you — we help you develop your own vision.
FOR CHURCHES AND NONPROFITS WITH LAND
Have land you’ve decided not to build on?
If your property includes land you won’t use for missional purposes — and your team wants to investigate what affordable housing might look like there — let’s talk.
HOW OUR CONSULTING WORKS
We consult. You lead.
Faithworks serves you on a contract basis as a consulting developer to help you define and understand your vision. We provide access to a Virginia Housing grant to offset the cost of the feasibility study and expertise at guiding the process of determining the size and scale of the project. We are not a partner in your development unless you specifically request that we are.
1
FUNDING
We apply for a grant
Through our relationship with Virginia Housing, we can apply for a non-refundable Community Impact Grant (CIG) — over $20,000 of capital to study your site.
2
FEASIBILITY
We assemble the team
With that capital, we bring together professionals to complete a feasibility study, a massing plan (how many units fit on the property), and a rough budget.
3
YOUR DECISION
You choose the path forward
You get a clear picture of what’s possible. And the best part: most of Faithworks’ cost is included in the grant.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FAQ
Questions people ask us.
Don’t see yours? Call us at 540-313-7682.
What is faith-based community development?
Faithworks comes alongside individuals, churches and other nonprofits to help determine whether affordable housing could be developed and built on their property. Are there constraints to building? Is there enough land? Are the utilities sufficient? Is the site conducive to development?
Does Faithworks build affordable housing directly?
Not now. We act as a consultant. Being involved as a partner in affordable housing development, building, and operation is part of our long-term plan.
How do we start a project with Faithworks?
Contact Rob Seidel, Faithworks' president, via the contact form or by phone at 540-313-7682.
Do we have to pay the grant back?
No! Keep in mind, though, that grants like these are often reimbursement-based, so you may need to pay your vendors first and wait for the state to process the payments.
Does Faithworks charge a fee to apply for a CIG?
Yes. This is one source of our earned income. But the fee is typically mostly covered by the grant.
If we find out a project isn't possible, do we have to pay the grant back?
No.
